Hi All,
A friend of mine brought this lovely vase over last night, it is decorated with thistles, and is a lovely amber colour.
The mark on the base says Made in France then what looks like a C L A interlocked, does anyone know who made it and when.
It looks very Lalique in style so I assume its Art Deco.

Interestingly it is in Hartmann and the first I have noticed that is remarked as unidentified circa 1930.
Cristallerie is obvious which leaves L A to match up.
Give it a few weeks.

I have the same mark on an opalescent perroquet stauette which is very very laliquish - only no one seems to be able to confirm the mark. It has been suggested that it is an early mark for Cristallerie Lorraine Alsace (or vice cersa) which is a company founded or taken over by Lalique when he started prooducing on an industrial scale - but I do not really believe it.

Came across this thread while searching & noticed the original pics have disappeared. I have added a new picture of the CLA mark from a vase I used to own. Sadly no more information to add though....

Sorry but I think you just missed the focus on the maker's mark - any chance of another? "Made in France" is easy but the middle is a mystery. Doesn't seem to want to open in the board, either.

Anther option based on initials: A. Landier & Fils, Cr. de Sevres et Clichy. It could also be a factor mark with the C standing for Compagnie rather than cristallerie.

The first post photos were on Tinypic and have since vanished, the later image just before your post is clear. The C is angular and made of 5 straight lines , an octagon with the right corners and side missing. Hartmann shows the L similarly with an angled corner.

Forgot to add another possibility that is proving difficult to trace, it might be a glassworks owned by another company. Perhaps, speculating, Portieux or even Baccarat
Cristallerie Lorraine Atlantique. Possible relation to http://www.cristaldeprestige.com/cristal.html
Has anyone got any further with tracking down Mrs Graydon Stannus French glassworks that was reputed to have made Lalique look-alikes?
;) Cristallerie Look Alikes (n.b. Not serious suggestion.) ::)

Why Frank? Why these speculations? I do not think it brings the answer forward. Loire Atlantique is a tableware shop founded in 2003 and Landier signed Sevres.

I came across the name while looking for something else in my marathon search session last night but hit a brick wall trying to follow it up, just added my results and thoughts in case anyone knew the name. Clearly such long-late sessions are not always fruitful. My poor French does not help either.

Sadly no more information on the mark, but I have come across another CLA vase, pics. below.
Colour is a little unusual and the pattern is very distictive.
