Another purchase at Newark last week....
Looks a little like some of the Strathearn prototypes/experimentals on Richard More's site. The central design looks like two leaves and a stalk with a millefiori flowerhead although it looks like a stylised mushroom!!!
Latticinio cushion is first rate and finished beautifully with a fire-polished base.

Inspired by a Triffid perhaps!

Perhaps John Wyndham was a collector.......
I remember reading the Midwich Cuckoo's at infants....scared me and I've never trusted blond/blondes since....
lol

Same latticino cushion as in my spaced millefiori example (http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-9190) - except there is a green internal cushion in mine. Yes, "experimental" Strathearn from the last period of their paperweight production.
I have either seen your weight before or I've seen another with the same "Tree" (??) design.

Found it. It's on Richard's site under "Experimental flowers". This one, with white and red latticino:

The shape of the flora is rather different but shows the same idea. And the red-green-white millefiori used is the same.

Thanks Kevin - I thought I'd been through all of Richards pictures but clearly not!
I was trying to get a cane match too. I thought I'd seen something similar before and that seemed the obvious starting point!
I really would have been floundering without your kind help. :hiclp:

Sincere apologies to any natural blonds/blondes by the way - no offence intended, Wyndhams writing was just too good - its the combination of blonde hair and gold eyes that I find scary!!!!

Sounds like a useful and practical fear. Nice to have it identified though. How many examples of such 'experimental' pieces were made - Herbert Dreier was their top man at the end. So it might be worth trying to get in touch with him.

The canes are a match Kevin although the orange/red has almost detached/seperated so it looks like a green/white/blue cane in my example. Much clearer in Richards example, and your millefiori piece is stunning!!

I'd also like to send pics to Richard - anyone know how best to contact him??

Have sent you his mail address by direct mail - Wolf

Just noticed a contact email on his front page!!
Thanks anyways!!
