Title: Olive ovoid vase
Post by: flick on August 24, 2006, 04:54:15 PM
Hello again

This yellowy green vase is 15cm high and8cm at its widest point and is a lovely eggshape.  Does anyone know anything about it?

Is it very heavy?  I have a smoky grey one similar with the acid etched Riihimaki stamp on the bottom.

Hi Pat

I wouldn't say it was heavy.  The glass is about 3 or 4mm thick though at the top getting thicker at the bottom.  No signature.

Probably not then because mine weighs about 2kg.

With a simple form, single colour and broken pontil like that there is no chance it's Riihimaki. Rather Polish, I'd say.

My One looks just like that except for the broken off pontil. Etched base and numbered. Possibly Aimo Okkolin.
