Glass / Re: Help w ID / Date Glass Vase maybe Georgian
« Last post by Glassine on Yesterday at 04:00:40 PM »
Thanks for the tip on Replacements.  I've been on their site but didn't realize that they have "search by image" which will be very useful.

On this piece I don't find a match but do see a few known-maker items with some similar features; and a few "unknown maker" items a little more similar.  Seeing what else is out there does help, especially if I can connect a date range.  The known-maker items are probably 20th-century (I'll look into those) which would square with your interesting observation on bottom wear.

Thanks!

As you say, it might be difficult to find a maker, if you haven't already looked replacements.com might help. It's not always a pointer but there doesn't seem to be enough wear on the base for it to be Georgian, perhaps early 20th. century.

Initially I thought Lafiore was a town but it's just one of several Mallorca makers. It appears glass making was introduced to Mallorca by the Phoenicians.

Glass Trinket Sets / NOT a Libockovice 1345A perfume flask.
« Last post by theElench on Yesterday at 10:52:35 AM »
I bought this locally, thinking I'd found the above perfume flask, going by the extended stopper.  Getting it home it obviously isn't and I couldn't find anything on GTS that looked similar.

Sorry about the picture quality, the centre panel of the flask has the same "diamond" pattern as "arms" of the stopper.  I think the two belong together as they both have the same decorative elements but the stopper is a bit wobbly so possibly it's not the original ?

Any information would be much appreciated and as always you're welcome to use the photos if they are of use.

Lafiore was a little surprising to me (not sure why) but after a quick look here is a second with label for confirmation, an ebay listing so the link will only be of temporary use:

British & Irish Glass / Joseph Webb sugar basin pattern 8018
« Last post by neilh on April 14, 2024, 08:03:23 PM »
This unregistered piece can be identified from pattern sheets in the Pottery Gazette in the late 1880s, which show some Joseph Webb designs being transferred to Edward Moore.
This one is shown with a lid, and numbered pattern 8018.

My example is heavy and very well made, density 3.1g/cc

I would date this pattern to before 1870.

No my fault for not scrolling further to the end.
It's a very similar design. Not quite the same shape (or size maybe given one has 16 petal underplate and the other 14?) but  closely related.

This is very interesting. Thanks for sharing your information and knowledge :)

Glass / Re: Mid 19th century opaline vase with ruffled rim & blue pineapple knop?

Perhaps I was too vague as to the French sugar.  No. 43 in the catalogue illustrations, Saint Louis 1872 almost at the end.
https://pressglas-korrespondenz.de/aktuelles/pdf/pk-2013-3w-vogt-bacc-louis-opaline-vasen.pdf A more tapered shape but still round, the under plate illustrated below in half plate.

Only one Sandwich catalogue known. It consist of goods lined up on shelfs against a black wall photographed. 80 pages and undated. Barlow/Kaiser settle on a date circa 1880. Nothing of the sort discussed in this thread.

Lafiore is one glass manufacturer but they seem to sell other local goods in their shop https://lafiore.com/en/
