Title: Alexandrite big bird signed Zanetti L - ID = Licio Zanetti
Post by: Anne E.B. on October 22, 2009, 06:08:29 PM
Just showing a nice find by my son when we visited the local auction today.  I think its either a stork or a heron.  Some 14" high and heavy.  Its signed Zanetti L on the base and has its Murano label.   Zanetti L has featured on past threads, but a bit of googled info states that Licio Zanetti only signed his name in full on really important expensive pieces, and the rest of the time, like this piece, 'Zanetti L'.  Still a nice piece, and really interesting to see it changing colour.

Ooooh!  That is one of the pretties Licio Z pieces I have seen. Love it! It may only have an L, but it is nicer than some I have seen that have the entire name.

I agree with Anita.  As I saw the photo I said 'Cor, that's nice!' outloud.  I love big bits of glass anyway and it's a great piece of neodymium.

Thanks for your comments folks :D
Just a shame I took him with me to the auction ::) !  I had it down on my preview list as a "must have", but it would have found its way to him eventually   ;D
He absolutely loves it.

Wow!  That is fabulous Sue - thanks for showing :kissy:.  I've googled Tagliapietra and his work is simply amazing.
How tall is your piece and is it also dated?

I love it to bits Anne!! he is 16 inches tall and signed but not dated, i have had to put him up on a high shelf because of a bouncy Dalmatian and two new grandchildren

I should also point out that there are more than one Tagliapietra glass blowers, this is by Andrea you can read about him here, sorry for the long link

Thanks Christine and Anne, i am having Taylor James overnight tonight and Sophia on Friday, but i see them most days, isnt it funny how when they are teenagers they know everything and as soon as they have a baby the phone never stops ringing "mum how do i" or "whats wrong,  she/he wont stop crying"  it seems mums are the only people in the world who know more than the doctors.
