they reminded me of something that got posted here, without brasswork, before and no one could decide what they were. Cannot find it now.

Maybe you're thinking of Ray's piece.  It was like a little darning stool...I'll have a look see if I can find thread.  :)

The eBay item has Murano canes, probably Fratelli Toso, likely 1920s/30s.

the one i had was strathearn and tiny only 0.9" ish  across and 1" high, still got some photo's will post later on, off to bed now

Perhaps yours was intended to be a drawer knob after all! The backend is then a functional part, strange that we expect a weight know to be fixed to a metal shank.
