Title: G P Tye ?
Post by: Anne on October 09, 2005, 01:50:49 PM
I've just found two wonderful purple bulb vases for sale, which are said to be marked as GP Tye. Googling has found no other mention of GP Tye anywhere, can anyone tell me who GP Tye may have been and where s/he worked please? If it helps to tie (!) in the glass style, the link to the items image is here: http://www.antiqueglass.co.uk/Enlargement.php?StockID=378. Thanks all! :)

Tye was a retailer of bulbs and bulb vases in the UK who commissioned their glass products from various subcontractors. at 4" these would count as crocus vases, I believe.

Ahhh right, thanks Ivo. That explains why I couldn't find them as glassmakers anywhere! ;) I just love the colour of these pieces - it's such a rich purple.
