Title: Holmegaard Decanter - Cluck Cluck?? Any one help please!
Post by: wjaxn on November 07, 2009, 11:37:41 AM
Hi all, Im new to this, so please go easy on me lol -

I have just bought this decanter and believe it to be a Kurtolf decanter by Holmegaard. Does anyone know the actual design and maybe how old it is? Looks pretty old to me.. The pontil on the base is ground and left rough, the decanter comes with original stopper and a glass, which also is shaped to allow the stopper to be placed into it.

I just replied to your query about this decanter on the Whitefriars forum.

The decanter is a Holmegaard klukflaske, or kuttrolf. The colour of the glass suggests that production was 1970s/90s. If the pontil mark has been left rough, then quite possibly it was a production second, with the flaw not being spotted until that stage.

The other glass is a candlestick holder, and was made by neither Holmegaard nor Whitefriars.

Hi Wayne,
I agree with Nic, the candle holder is nothing to do with the decanter,
but i think its a great idea to use it that way, as round stoppers are notorious for
rolling off the table and breaking!

It would be polite, however, to post even a brief note of thanks or acknowledgement on the board before rushing off with the information for your eBay listing...  ::)

Much obliged.

If linking to images (that you own the copyright to) on other sites, then to get them to show up on the page you need to bookend the url with [img] tags - or use the 'Insert Image' button from the selection of options above the text box you write in when you reply.

Or, better yet, you could upload them to the board's own image hosting, which you will find below the text box when replying (the option that says 'attach').
