Title: Two birds on a bowl.... Italian... but by who??? Seguso?
Post by: obscurities on March 26, 2011, 01:24:34 AM
Got this today......  to be honest I generally do not buy animals......  but I thought these were just way to cool to pass up.....  very unusual, and quite striking in what appears to be opalescent pink and alabastro....... with the tiniest sky blue eyes.....

Flat ground and polished bottom with some age to it.

7 inches in diameter and 4.75 inches to the top of a bird head.  The birds are approx 3.5 inches long and 2.5 inches wide....

Suggestions as to maker???

TIA  Craig

Hi Craig, I'd say Archimede Seguso, which is the main contender for alabastro glass.  Others did make similar, but I'm pretty sure this design of bowl is also identified as Archimede Seguso in one of my books, I'll see if I can find it...

Found it - Italian Glass Century 20 page 145.

Here's one in blue:

Shifting this thread to Murano, and just giving it a *bump*. :)
