OK, Pinky reminded me (in the cafe) that I hadn't posted this weight here. I bought it at Gaydon with the ID "Possibly an Orient and Flume trial piece". http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/albums/userpics/10048/Mystery_weight_top.jpg

Apparently the seller had enquired of both Ray Metcalfe of 'Sweetbriar Gallery' and Brian Slater of 'JustGlass' and both thought it was possibly by Orient & Flume, although it is unmarked.
It is most unusual, having two facets cutting through each other at an angle on the top, and a strange etched or engraved surface (which almost looks as if 'Jack Frost' has been at it) but the flowers are very similar to those in Orient & Flume weights, and the irridescent surface of the internal globe is similar to that more ususally seen on the outside of O&F weights!
So, what do our experts here think? :?

Why don't you email a pic to Orient and flume Leni. I did that to Robert Held and they replied very quickly.
-
Well, I had a reply from Orient and Flume to say it wasn't theirs. So what next? :? I also emailed Lundberg Studios, because I thought there was a slight simiularlity to some of their flowers, but they haven't replied. Looks like this one's a real mystery! Anyone got any ideas?
-
Even though it's maker is still a mystery, it's a very nice piece.
-
Just 'bumping' this in the hope that someone may have an idea :? I got no reply from Lundberg Studios :( I did wonder if it could even be a Caithness trial piece?
-
Hi Leni ..... I believe Lundberg weights are signed as well. Exceptions are possible though (like my unsigned Abelman for instance). Your piece does look to be very nice, and I hope your "mystery" will be solved one day.
All the best .... Lily :)

The way the top is cut reminds me of Caithness. It's a possibility.

How about Vandermark-Merritt? www.vandermarkmerrittglass.com/

Thanks, Christine, that is definitely a possibility! In fact Liz has just emailed me with that suggestion, too. I may well have to send them a picture and ask if they can confirm whether or not it's one of theirs.
Thanks again :D
