I just love this one
Murano millefiore duck, approx 5 1/2 inches or 14 cm tall - slightly wider.
Beautiful gold colour throughout, even the feet!
Bought from Design and Arts in Germany so I think it will be Murano as advertised , but no idea of maker or age. Any ideas or comments welcomed ;D

Hi Jak, what a gorgeous duck. My first thought was Fratelli Toso.....the detail and the sumptiousness of all the gold makes me think that. I wonder what Anita thinks? Have you had a look in her Zoo to see if there is anything similar?
You are right about D&A, I would trust their attribution. I have also seen these in frosted glass...this may sound odd, but they actually look lovely and the frosted glass softens the millefiori and gives it a lovely satiny feel as well.

The millefiori looks like Gambaro & Poggi. I haven't seen this duck before, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is theirs. In fact, I would be surprised if it wasn't them. It looks like so many of their millefiori pieces. I checked the canes against G&P pictures I have and each one of them is correct for G&P.

Thanks Anita and Rosie
Rosie - sumptuous is the perfect word for her. I have pored over Anita's Zoo often recently and don't think there is one there like her - or the other two ducks either.
And thanks Anita for the Gambara and Poggi name. I have just looked at their website and stretched my one term of Italian language study to the fullest - until I noticed the Union Jack flag denoting an English language version Doh! I just woke up- not had breakfast yet - that is my excuse.
Beautiful stuff. I have registered to see their full catalogue.
I might email them to see if they can confirm it is theirs.

Good morning Jak.....and Anita as well.
Hee hee, I was going to say Fratelli Toso or Gambaro & Poggi (honestly Anita, I really was!!) then I plumped for the wrong one!! :pb:
I think I will have to start learning the 'cane code' for these glass houses, because I really do like Italian glass animals.
Jak, what a wonderful purchase.....you are one lucky person.

Have looked closely at the Gambaro & Poggi site and although my duck isn't there, there are lots of similarities, so I think you are right. I will email them a pic and see if they can tell me for sure, and also date it for me.
Rosie I am hooked on the sellers; Design and Arts - I want just about everything they sell! I now have them saved to give me a listing of their new stuff every day! Addicted I am afraid.
Cannot buy much of it - especially with the freight costs, but can enjoy looking

Design & Arts is someone I recommend very highly. They carry nice glass at good prices. I wish everyone on eBay had the standards that they do. Someone told me they bought out the inventory of Seguso/Cenedese that was in a warehouse (if I remember right).

Yes, Anita is most likely correct with the G & P attribution. The gold looks evenly disbursed throughout the piece like their other works and the canes are defined and not sloppy. Gambaro & Poggi it must be. Good job, Anita! :hiclp:

 Does that mean I sold a Gambaro and Poggi duck.....am I yet again to have sellers remorse?

I'm not sure if your duck is G&P or Campanella, Rosie. Both make very similar ducks. I am pulled toward Campanella, but I've been wrong about it in the past. There was a Campanella duck similar to this sold recently on eBay, but I couldn't enlarge the picture to see what the canes looked like.
-
Well, I suppose if I have sold it, it doesn't really matter, but I will have to come over there for lessons in cane recognition.......do you fancy setting up a study day??
-
Me? Well... no. But other people on the group may be willing. :)

Not Gambaro e Poggi
I emailed a photo of my duck (thank goodness for Google translate) and received this reply
Dear ms Jackie,
sorry but it is not mine and I don’t know which company produce this duck. I can not help you..
Regards, Saluti
LUCIANO GAMBARO
so I am disappointed it does not have a name yet - but still love the duck !

They did Anita...along with the catalogues of the SVdA pieces although the do get confused as to the repro's on occaisons due to the colour combo's...they have 'several' people listing at any one time (many nationalities)...but generally they are spot on...one of the best sellers of Murano glass on ebay...
Love the team of D&A...friendly...courteous and good packing of good quality glass...never had a problem...

If not G&P, then maybe Campanella. Their millefiori things look a lot like G&P.
-
Thanks Anita - have just sent Vetreria Campanella an email - could not attach a photo though - so will have to see if they reply.

Rosieposie - I found your duck. It is Campanella for sure.

Good detective work, Tami. Doesn't that look like a wonderful duck for the zoo, Rosie? (Sounds like I'm begging again.)
