Title: Amber Pressed Glass Candlesticks - ID = Valerysthal or Taiwan copies
Post by: svazzo on July 12, 2011, 03:41:44 AM
Hello Everyone!
Came across this set of little pressed mold made candlesticks in a large lot of glass I recently purchased.
I wanted the Italian glass, but this pieces were thrown in.
They look to be older, and they have 4 mold lines each.
I have not found any marks on them. Would anyone know where this pieces are from?
Thank you in advance!
Javier

I wonder if they are American. I would ask here http://chataboutdg.com/forums/

Hi Javier,

scanned Vallerysthal 1907 yesterday and found this - will appear on glas-musterbuch.de in higher resolution soon

I think they did not mark the toys.

However, I've got a clear white candlestick like # 4168 which is marked  TAIWAN on the top

Hello Pamela!
Thank you for posting that scan!

So they are supposed to be "toy" pieces? or "miniature" pieces?
My pieces are not marked in any way, just have the mold marks.

I did get a reply from the chataboutdg.com, that the pieces have been reproduced in China recently.
Guessing that is where yours comes from.

Yes, Javier, mine is made in Republic of China = Taiwan. Height of my candlestick is approx. 8 cms.
'Jouets' are toys in French language, so no doubt about that.  :D

The toy pieces from Valerysthal are never marked and they are not particularly rare. You can find them (at least) in amber and in aqua and in opaque blue and white milk glass. There are imitations around as well - but the difference is hard to spot. Yours are just as likely to be Valerysthal as Taiwan.
