Title: INTERESTING CHIHULY INFORMATION
Post by: shats on October 06, 2006, 04:39:35 PM
Hi Everyone,

For those of you who collect or are fans of Dale Chihuly's work I have some interesting information to pass along.   I never knew this before, but in addition to the normal studio editions that are produced, in 2001 Chihuly produced two limited editions for the upcoming Salt Lake City Olympic games.  One was a Sapphire Blue Basket set and the other was a Goldenrod Macchia.  They were both produced in very small numbers, the basket set is an edition of 28 and the Macchia was an edition of 36.  If you look at my post about the Chihuly pieces I have for sale,  the first picture is one of the Olympic Edition Goldenrod Macchias.  These pieces are not shown by any of the galleries that sell Chihuly's studio editions so I found this to be quite intriguing and thought I would pass along the information.  Hope evryone is having a good day and not under the pouring rain as we are here.

Speaking of Dale, what's the latest on his copyright case?

Cathy,

The case was settled out of court.  I do not know if Chihuly received any monetary damgages.  When I last spoke with his studio they refused to make any comment.  Here is a link to an article with some details on the case:
