Title: Clichy Miniature (I think) ID = Baccarat, 19th century
Post by: Nick77 on July 27, 2012, 09:10:17 AM
Just acquired this one in need of a bit of a polish, despite searching I can't exactly match the canes but I'm leaning towards Clichy, 1850's, am I correct?
Size is 45mm 1 3/4".

Many thanks
Nick

Looks more like antique Baccarat.

I agree with alpha .... the canes look more like antique Baccarat than Clichy.

Thanks both, have looked in my books and on line and could not find exact matches, is 1850 about right?

Hi Nick

I think that Baccarat made so many different canes over 15 year or so ( many thousands, I would think -  check out some of the Baccarat on my website for variety) that you would be lucky to find an exact match. You have to go one 'style'. The Baccarat cinquefoil garland below has similar style canes.

Date - yes, about right: somewhere from the late 1840s to 1860.

Thanks Alan, yes thats very similar. After your and Alpha's ID  of Bacarrat I did another Google images search and the third image this time had a weight with the red centre Swiss roll type cane.
