Title: Butterfly Carnival Glass
Post by: vintagerose on July 09, 2006, 02:57:29 AM
I bought these from at a garage sale today. Are they contemporary, or old?  Also who is the maker?  Fenton I'm hoping  :D but probably not. The lady said they were very old. But then people are calling the 1970's old now.
small butterfly measures:  4 1/4" wide x 1" tall
large butterfly measures:  8 1/4" wide x 1 1/4" tall

These are items from the Jeannette Butterfly Party Set (for serving candy, nibbles etc.). There was also a Cigarette Set with two of the small dishes as ashtrays (and a covered box for cigarettes). They were first made in around the 1940s I think, in Depression colours. The marigold ones were made a bit later.
