Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone had any further information on this large pressed glass piece, which carries the Registration Design Number '790136'.
I presume the piece is a large vase, however, due to its size, i suppose it could also be a wine cooler or similar. It weights 2.8kg and measures 9.5 inches tall with a rim diameter of 8.25 inches.
Looking at the great-glass.co.uk website, I think this Reg Design number would date to around 1934, however would welcome any further information if possible.
Many thanks in advance.
Greg

The Blue Book says Hoskins Rose & Co.1934 as you said, can't help further, ;D

As with many Hoskins, Rose & Co.-registered pieces, the vase was actually made by in Czechoslovakia by Libochovice.
The pattern number is 1483, and it appears on page 2 of the pre-1958 Libochovice catalogue on Marcus Newhall's Sklo Union CD-ROM. The height is given as 230mm.
There is also a slimmer version, pattern 1484, with somewhat less prominent 'wings' as feet. Height 232mm.
By the way, Keith, could you tell what the Blue Book gives as the precise registation date, please? - the reg. no. doesn't appear in the list at http://www.great-glass.co.uk/glass%20notes/regnos09.htm

Many thanks both for the information its greatly appreciated. :)
I did wonder if it may have been Czechoslovakian. Just to clarify, would this design be pattern number 1483...? Strangely the height of mine measures 234mm tall..?
Many thanks

I'm 98% sure that the pattern number is 1484, Greg.
The proportions of 1484 and 1483 in the catalogue appear quite different, and I suspect that a variance of 4mm in the height of such a large, heavy piece would be well within manufacturing limits.
