Title: Orbital Glass Paperweight I.D Request
Post by: Otis Orlando on October 24, 2012, 10:46:45 PM
Hi,  Can anyone identify this paperweight.  Height 9.2cm, widest point 8.6cm and flat base 4.6cm dia.  Excessive ware to base area, mainly around the edge.  Within the clear area of the paperweight small white bits are clearly visible.  I have looked at many orbital paperweights, however, I am not having much luck in being able to obtain any information.    I would also be interested to know how this paperweight was made, especially paying particular attention to this design.  Any help, appreciated!

Hi Otis

I think this is a relatively straightforward design for any competent glass maker to produce, and I think that many smaller glass studios that occasionally make paperweights could have been the source.  I have seen broadly similar pieces on sale in various glass studios I have visited - and seen them available on Chinese makers websites - so I doubt you will pin it down to any specific maker.

Hi Alan,   Yes, I have given up trying to find anything about this paperweight.  Your probably right, every possibility of being made in a small studio.   Thanks for you help, very much appreciated. :)
