When I first saw this bowl I thought it was Nazeing. The swirls made me doubt this. Can anyone help with an ID please? The bow is 24cm wide 10cm high.

David, possibly Scottish, Monart/Vasart,

One of the great unknowns, possibly Whitefriars 'Cloudy' and even Caithness has been suggested. Also found in pale or deep blue, pink, yellow, green.

Thanks Frank.
Is Nazeing ruled out of those possible makers?

Yes.

I've got a lilac example - was incorrectly described as "monart style" (someone that's not seen monart wares methinks!).
Dimensions are 11 inch diameter, 3 inches high, foot just over 4 inches.
Very pretty as also includes flashes of pink, blue and white. Top of bowl dominated by four evely spaced swirls/whorls. Highly polished prefectly concave where pontil might have been. The wear to the base on mine looks a little TOO uniform. Just an observation!!
Pastel colours are similar to some Caithness items - and I think must have been produced since the 1960's...

Can you add a pic of yours, never seen these with other colours in.

The wear on mine is very evident but uneven.Another observation about mine- (dont know if it helps) there is a fairly thick casing of clear glass at the base . Also the enamel colouring is much deeper pink on the inside, paler and with more flecks of white on the outside. It's also a little uneven - tilts a few mm to one side at the top. Wouldn't that rule out the possiblity of a Whitefriars cloudy ID?

Yep, same substantial clear glass gather towards foot rim on mine. Frank, perhaps my lilac/purple is your blue!!
Gots pics but 3mb - a little too large!!! I'll sort something a little smaller.
-
The thick clear at the base is typical.
The nearest you will find with Nazeing, interesting that the colour range is similar. http://www.ysartglass.com/Otherglass/Nazeing/NazeingG02.htm

here you go...
purple or blue?? lol
-
Blue with a trace of colour. Those small whorls are also typical and could have been inspired by Monart.

I must be colour blind! ;)
Seriously, it looks much more redish/purply in real life, and white wisps throughout, although the colouration differs inside to out!!
