not really that keen on black glass but I rather liked the shape and design but haven't a clue on maker or even age. Any ideas? taaaaaaaaaaa

That there eagle looks very American to me.

It is the Tiara Glass Eagle Star pattern. I believe this piece was made by Indiana Glass in the 1970s for Tiara.

ooooooooooooooooo thank you very much, I have a vase too but not to hand to post images as I bought them from the same place. Different pattern by may also be Indiana. I shall find it out. Many thanks again

o yeah was I right in saying that it is a powder bowl?

I wasn't really comfortable with the Indiana Glass attribution, so I checked my catalogue this morning to see it wasn't there for Tiara. I did some more checking and found that it was instead probably made by Federal Glass for Tiara in the 1980s. I've always head the pattern called Eagle & Stars, but apparently the official pattern name is Colonial. I'm glad that I checked, rather than assume it was Indiana.

o thanks again Anita :kissy:

A little more imput on the dates -- the date I found for the 1980s is probably off, because Federal Glass closed in 1980. If they made them for Tiara, it must have been in the 1970s. Another thing that may have happened is that Indiana or another company purchased the mold and continued to create the popular Eagle & Star pieces. They were apparently one of the most successful Tiara lines.
