Title: Riihimaki?
Post by: vidfletch on April 27, 2006, 08:38:02 PM
I recently bought the vase shown below as I really liked it. I also had a sneaky suspicion it was possibly maybe Riihimaki. Of course it might be Polish and made this year!

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Hi David,

I can't help much, but I haven't seen one like it 'yet' attributed to Riihimaki.
I have one, sort of similar but the bulbous part on yours is too high and too fat. The top on mine flares out: it sort of looks like a 'yard of ale' with a clear base (does that make any sense at all????) I don't have a photo on my computer, or I would post it.
Max is the one with the knowledge......................I believe.

Thanks, I have looked through all my books and photos of glass etc, and could not see it.

Either way it is still really nice. I'll keep looking.

Same vase in Millers Collectable Price Guide 2005 page 323. Riihimaen Lasi Oy designed by Aimo Okkolin, 1970, 9.25 inches high.

But is it?
