Title: Is this Davidsons Pearline Glass or not?
Post by: nicci985 on May 14, 2006, 06:55:50 PM
Hi
I brought these from a lady at a Carboot as I'm wanting to start collecting glass items.
The lady said these were by davidson and were from a collection called pearline.
Was she having me on? And could anyone else give me an idea on age or further details?

Please view them here:

Thanks in advance

Nicci

Yes, it is Davidson's Blue Pearline. It may have a Registered Design Number moulded onto the glass - the number should be 217752. It was registered on 6th September 1893. Davidson was a renowned British company located in Tyneside.

The pattern was called "Prince William" by the US writer William Heacock.

What a lovely buy! Congratulations. You couldn't hope to start glass collecting in a better way.

Oooo no, Tigerchips. Don't say sorry! I didn't mean it like that.   It was just a bit funny as I sounded like an echo. I wouldn't have posted if your message had been there when I began to write. I was checking up Heacock's "Glass Collector" journals where he set out his choice of names for the pearline range, and also getting the date for the RD number. So my fingers weren't fast enough doing the typing.

I guess twice the info is better than no info at all.

I should add that I also LOVE Davidson's Pearline. We've been collecting it for many years now and have some very unusual shapes. We have both blue and yellow (Primrose).

And I have never found any in either a charity shop or a boot sale (where's the sob sob emoticon.....my kingdom for a sob sob emoticon).

I picked this up from the carboot and I paid £10 not sure if its a good price though?  :?:

I was concerned they were modern pieces!

But I've now found the Rd numbers inside the bottoms!

I'm sooo excited, hopefully I can carry on finding lovely items!

I love the colours and texture they're a fantastic pair and I'm really chuffed

Hopefully I will learn more and more about different glass designs.

But I'm glad I found this group.

I think glass is fantastic to collect as its so decorative and never really dates!

Its a step up from my badge collection when I was 10

Thank you to everyone!!

Very NICE FIND!  From my perspective, you got that sugar and creamer at about 90% off of what most have to pay!

I collect pearline too, but only the yellow version.  I just got this little creamer (Heacock named it LINKING RINGS, for obvious reasons).  I also just got the metal frame for the LINGING RINGS oval ruffled dish, which fits it perfectly (albeit, a 'marriage') and made a nice Bon-Bon dish out of it.

Now, if we are going to talk BARGAINS, I found this in Oklahoma City, USA just yesterday.  Some minor chipping to the feet, but no other damage (and these seem to get chipped pretty regularly on these applied feet).
This piece is known by at least two names, HARLEQUIN or QUADRUPLE DIAMONDS, depending on the reference book checked.  It has a yellow opalescent spot pattern and the first gather of glass was blue.  Glows terrific under a blacklight!  I bought this little gem for $35 US

Wow they are all fantastic pieces!

I love the yello bonbon dish on the stand, its really pretty! I'll have to keep a look out for one!

The other piece certainly seems a bargain!

Nicci you got a real bargain. You'd be lucky to find one piece with damage at £10 as a rule

 at Dave as usual
