Fenton handpainted blue elephant - marked to side and labeled to base

Can't make out painters mark - anyone any ideas?

Hi there:

Did some digging for you and found this site here with a *LIST* of all the glass makers at Fenton.  Good Site to keep as a reference, and it might give you the answer.  To me -- the last name looks like it starts with an *E* but I am going to take a look through all of the listed names there to see if it might be something else.  Sometimes each person *sees* different loops in a signature that look like different letter.  So the more views on the signature here, maybe we can come to a common agreement of what the signature is.

I also think the first line of writing just says "Hand Painted" but in really sloppy writing......then the first name might be Lynn ?? E____  Will take a look at the list posted here too in a bit...

Kinda looks like Everson for the last name, but Linda does not look right -- as it looks like the Lynn, or lynda for the first name ?????????  Still trying to figure it out

Well trawled, Rose.

The second line is most likely "By L. Ev...". So "Linda Everson" could be the person.

Got the piece here and is "handpainted by L Ever..." I dont want damage the label but can see an S after the R so Everson is a good guess.

Here is the same elephant by Fenton but in marigold lustre. Has label and raised Fenton in oval to side of rump.

Oh dear - what a place for the label!  :'(
I think I'd be removing it and replacing it on the base.  :)
It rather spoils your elephant's appearance where it is.

Given it has the raised mark on the body, does it really need its paper label stuck onto it at all?
I think I might even remove it completely and just keep it in an envelope, clearly marked, that the label does belong to this piece. You already have photographic evidence.  :)
This may shock some purists I know, but the label really does interfere with full enjoyment of the piece.
