Hello,

Bernard is quite right the colouring does indeed look like Nazeing, but the rim looks a tad on the thick side. Please could you confirm the thickness. Also please could you describe the pontil, since the focus is a little out on the images. I am not clear whether it is a normal size polished pontil, snapped off, or even a matt finis.

Many thanks, Nigel

Hi Nigel, thanks for your input, I did take a couple of better pics today but alas, too big, will try again tomorrow.  But in the meantime, the thickness of the rim is 0.5cms and to me, the base looks like a snapped off pontil, more pics tomorrow, cheers, Gill

Hello Gill,

Thanks for putting up the extra photos. Working from those, and you're information about the pontil, I would suggest that this jug is from the Elwell glass period produced by Nazeing, rather than what is recognised as Nazeing Glass production from either pre or post war.

Essentially Bernard was right, but there is a caveat, as you can see from the above.

Nigel

That's great, thanks for taking the time to respond.  For selling purposes, would a description of ,  "Elwell Glass Period, made by Nazeing " be fair?  Wouldn't want to deceive anyone.  Picked this up at a boot fair near Loughton so it's stayed fairly local I think, cheers, Gill
