Title: Tapio Wirkkala - which range?
Post by: vidrioguapo on November 30, 2010, 02:57:52 PM
I have seen this vase variously described as from either the Avena or Pinus range!

Can anyone give me the exact range please? And any other info.  TIA

It looks like 3729 then, catchy name isn't it. ;D

Avena: http://www.designlasi.com/en/content/avena-3429-1
Avena in black: http://www.designlasi.com/en/content/avena-vase-3429-wirkkala-tapio

Could not find an example of Pinus on that site, but looking in Smoke and Ice it appears they are heavily textured, 16.5cm tall and much wider in proportion than your vase.

Here is one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Eames-Iittala-vtg-modern-art-glass-vase-Tapio-Wirkkala-/220701186521?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3362d0d9d9

Not my clearest and most straightforward of posts Emmi, come to think of it, how many of mine are like that? :-X

For future reference: designed by Tapio Wirrkala in 1965 for Iittala, catalogued in two heights 175 and 240mm and numbered 3729.

That really goes against the grain.... ;D
