Hi, I'm new to this forum and would love some help with these vases left to me! The clear one is 26cm high weight's around 2kg and has a name etched underneath. I can make out some letters i think but not all. It seems to be "tchecciss?????qe" but cant be sure. I've been trying to identify these vases for a long time and would be so grateful for your help. Regards

second vase looks kinda Sklo Union to me
-
Could it read tchecolslovaquie or something like that i believe i have too many letters .
-
Hi and welcome !
Your clear white vase is in fact Tchecoslovaquie, Libochovice (Feigl & Moravetz) # 3032 - it came in three different heights 175, 200 and 255 mms.
NICE! :sun:

Cheers people, im no expert but i did think of Sklo myself. The second answer, is that a name for a glass company? If it is thats got to be it. Dont go off the ammount of question marks i put in the thread when you say " to many letters"
-
Wow! Thanks, ive never heard of that company before. It has a really nice feel to it and as with most photo's it looks even better in the flesh! Oh yea, your right 255mm not 260mm like i said!

Yes, Libochovice (Leibowitz) hut around 1950 - ref. Marcus Newhall book SKLO UNION - Art before Industry
Sorry, can't help instantly with your blue vase, looks a little less old to me because of the straight shape.
Both are quality pieces! :hi:

Youve all been most helpful thank you. Just had a quick look at your website Pamela. I'll be going there again when ive got a bit more time, it looks fantastic!!!!

Hi and welcome to the board. Please post one item per topic rather than multiples - this helps us keep straight in what we're discussing and afterwards filing identified items into the proper place. If you will re-post the blue vase into a new topic I'll remove the details of it from this one.

Cheers people, im no expert but i did think of Sklo myself.
Sklo just means glass; that's what this board is about...
-
Hi i just meant too many letters in my spelling of Tchecoslovaquie but it was early morning . ::)
-
Oh sorry about posting two topics. I'll remove the blue vase. Also i'd seen some Sklo Union Glass and thought it looked similar but thought Sklo was the name of the company. Didn't realise Sklo translated as Glass. So the company is called Union then? Seems quite a rare vase when ive looked round. Unfortunatly ive found a deep scratch which was very well hidden. I felt it before i spotted it. Is there anyway of repairing it? Thanks
-
Nope, Sklo Union was the name of a group of state-owned glass factories in Czechoslovakia. They all produced pressed glass, there's a full history of SU in Marcus' book referred to above, but to get you started have a read of his website here: http://www.sklounion.com/Sklo1.html
By the way, you can only edit your own posts for an hour after making them, so you won't be able to remove the blue vase pics without help from a Moderator, so I'll go do that for you now. If you'd like to repost them into a new topic we may be able to find out more.

Thanks very much!!!!
