Title: Carnival glass wine decanter - ID = Golden Harvest by Diamond/Dugan
Post by: peejyweejy on January 19, 2010, 04:38:37 PM
Hi all

Wondered if anyone could ID this decanter - I have had a look myself and have seen a similar decanter by Fenton but a different pattern. So, confirmation of maker and a pattern ID would be great. Also, approximate age. I have three stemmed wine glasses that came with it. The pattern is grape and vine and a wheat sheath of barley or something, not sure.

Thanks Peejy.

I'm no carnival expert. I just have several books and know where to look on the web. Glen is THE expert.

This decanter set from the Diamond Glass-Ware Co. appears in a 1919 Butler Brothers catalog, so it is quite probably on the "late" side of Carnival glass made in the USA. The collectors call it Golden Harvest because it's most often seen in Marigold Carnival, but it does come in Amethyst Carnival, too.

The Fenton decanter is made with a mould we bought from the L. G. Wright Glass Co. in 1999. I will check the mould and report further, as it could be the original Diamond mould since Wright acquired quite a few original Dugan and Diamond moulds in the late 1930s.

Here is the link to the Fenton decanter I found - just that the pattern isn't too apparent. Please scroll down.
