Well, Fantastic,  Mark Hills new book, comes to the rescue for the first time :hiclp: :hiclp: :hiclp:
On page 51 , he has your vase as Prachen Glassworks 'Flora'
circa 1973 designed by Frantisek Koudelka. Page 51.

Warren,
apologies, was in hurry for my guinness last night, and your name escaped me.
Your vase is a different shape to the one pictured in the book, i have just looked at
Mark Hills website, and photos of the exhibition, you can see some examples in the
4th picture down.

Frantisek Koudelka.(inspired by Hodspodka) Its possible your vase (according to the book)
is from the Karneval range from 1973, which used the same patterns.

Andy

Thanks, Andy! Thanks also for the heads up on the book - I think that's one I need to have! I also apparently need to read about cellophane glass - I was not previously familiar with the term.

Hi Warren,
Frank coined the phrase 'Cellophane Glass' because of its cellular appearence, and its just like
that crinkly stuff you used to get sweeties in  ;D  (i presume Frank)
http://www.ysartglass.com/Ysart/NotYsart.htm
As Frank says, they seem to be contemporary with Monart.
The 2 ive got have many many years of age wear to the bases.
Very thick and heavy.

Hi Warren,
Andy's right - the form shows that it's from the Flora range designed by Frantisek Koudelka for the Prachen Glassworks. Koudelka worked under Hospodka for a time....
Best,
Mark

Hi Ivo,
Definitely the same  ;D
Yours is the same shape as in Marks book which is Blue and yellow, but states
Flora's colours also included red spots on blue, blue on red, red on cream and purple on cream.

Regards
Andy

(produced in 3 sizes 35.5cm 28cm and 22cm)
ps you can see your vase in blue and yellow, in the 4th photo down on Marks link above :D

Well, Ivo,
Its Red on Cream  :D
I would think its highly likely , but shapes not in book, and cannot see in photos of exhibition,
I presume its similar weight, same pontil etc ?
Surely it must be   ;D

Maybe Mark or Graham can give you 100%

Hi Ivo,
Looking through CGR, the May edition, 1973, pages 10-13, suggests that this is from the "Karneval" range, also by Koudelka, though again, the form you have, is not shown.
Given the neck finish, though, this looks right.

Marcus

Thanks guys - I would think the technique and the finish are similar to the previous one, and I can believe why someone would call it "Karneval" - it just has that feel about it. That is the second attribution of the day - I'm getting embarrassed!   :hiclp: :hiclp: :hiclp:

I may be confused but from reading the photo caption in the Czech glas revue
1974/5 it looks as though Ivo's cream with orange splash vase is from the Flora range rather than Karneval?
If I am wrong my apologies, no intentioa to confuse, it's just I came across this looking up another vase.
