Post by: Greenguy on July 10, 2011, 09:32:47 PM
Hi to each and all,
I picked up this Pressed glass owl very cheaply at the local bootfair thisw sunday.
Im guessing its a paperwieght and thought that i had seen the six pointed star mark in one of the glass books but
now cant find any reference of it anywhere, i hope somone can shed some light on it for me.
Many thanks for taking the time to look.

Hi, welcome to the Board.

This may, or may not, be a paperweight. It would be helpful if you let us know the size of the item  - height with and without the black plinth, and diameter of the base of the rocks section.

The plinth might not have been original to the owl. Is the plinth also glass? There appears to be unnecessary markings on the plinth around the the foot of the owl, suggesting a marriage of two items.

Hi KevH, thanks for your reply.
The Owl and rocks clear glass part measures 7cm
The black base is also glass, there arent any markings on the black part just dust and dirt built up over the years i guess.
Thanks again

I doubt star is a mark. Bird is Czech of French. Withe the former likely given the size. Plinth could well be a later addition by an owner. Not really a paperweight.
