Suspect this is a fairly modern piece but would like to know more about it if poss.

Here is their website, you may be able to find it if it is still in production: http://www.dartington.co.uk/
If not they have been very helpful in the past, email them and ask: info@dartington.co.uk
A photo of the Dartington mark may help to date it.

Many thanks for this, John. I'll give them a try.

You were right. They were very helpful. I mailed them this morning and got this reply in the afternoon.
The item is called a Horizontal Vase from a collection called Loop. It was designed by Hanne Bredesen in 2007 and was only in production for two years when it was discontinued from the range.
So now we know...

They seem to understand customer service at Dartington, fairly rare for a British company...... for Dartington Crystal.
So what are the dimensions of the vase and how far does the hollow bit run?

Yes. Completely agree. The vase is approx 9.5 high and the bowl is about 2.5in deep. So not massively practical...
-
Thanks, that helps to make sense of it.
It looks like it would fall over in a breeze, you don't have a cat do you? :ooh:

Hahahaha. Fortunately not. It's surprisingly solid and weighty actually.
Would welcome your opinion on a red glass 'bottle' shaped piece. Can't make up my mind if it's 50s or whether it might've been sold in TK Max. Look out for details if you're interested.
Cheers
