Title: Blue mottled bowl with gold flecks.
Post by: mrs vulture on September 26, 2012, 08:00:28 PM
Hello Yet another car boot find,it was in amongst a load of old tools and other stuff which had been stored for years in a barn. It was so dirty I didn't realise it was even made of glass. The seller said it was a lovely piece of Victorian glass. Someone saw it later in the day after I washed it and thought it had no age to it at all. I do think however it has some age due to the amount of muck on it and from what the seller said, it has some wear to the base. It is made of clear glass with lots of pale blue splodges turning to glittering gold two inches from the rim. Underneath the   outer rim is nicely polished yet the centre pontil is matt to the finish. 8 and a half inches across top, 2 and a half inches tall. Looks beautiful in sunlight. Any ideas by who or how old please.    Cheryl.

Maybe it's the pictures/lighting, but the blue looks far too deep for "wedding gift", to me.
WG is a very, very pale, baby blue.
But definitely Monart - wonderful find!

Hi, The pictures do make the blue appear quite a bit darker than real life. Its a paler shade altogether. the photos were taken at night with a flash, perhaps not the best light to take them in.    It always makes me wonder how such lovely items get thrown in a barn etc. with a load of rubbish. But if its good enough for the Queen its good enough for me.  ;D    cheryl

Wasn't it the queen mother.... ???
But if it's a lot paler, then yes, it's that pattern.
