Title: Vizner vase
Post by: premys on March 11, 2009, 07:55:52 PM
we've other bored vase from Mr. Vízner. I think, that hole make some handyman, because for us, Czechs, is do-it-yourself national hobby :-). I was don't understand, that somebody can bore this beatiful vase. Now i can imagine, that somebody in glassworks can, when can have tomorrow the same vase. I hope, that in English exist proverb as in Czech, "You don't know what you have,as long as you lose it"

At the time the lampbase was bought, Pan Vlastimil Beranek assured the author that this was a factory finished item.
This was re-confirmed to both Jindrich Parik and the author in December last year by Frantisek Vizner, and that the work was carried out personally by the artist.
I am deeply offended by the suggestion that somehow, the item has been subjected to later alteration.

I`m sorry, i can`t English, and i don`t know, that i understand your last sentence.
I had bought item as it is in the picture.  I didn't know that it is bored in factory or not. I will not dispute a claim of autor his piece bore. I thought that  this done some handymen. During a socialism was in shops nothing. When anybody would a lamp, has had himself to be made.

Not sure if this is known anyway from the previous part of the thread, but the vase at the top of the page with the browny/amber base is Vìzner for Skrdlovice, c1974. Also comes in green, with a banded colourless neck, and other colours.

Hi Jindrich,
just reading some messages i had missed, and i see no one replied to your post.
How nice that you are with Frantisek Vizner, i am a big admirer of his and other Skrdlovice
work from the same period. I hope he is well.
His work is getting more and more popular!

Cheers and best regards,
