Title: I am Glass imbecile!! HELP!
Post by: TSorrell on February 12, 2013, 10:15:22 AM

I have recently inherited these pieces of glass from my grandmother and I have no idea what they are? There is a matching set of the candlestick holders and the other piece weighs a tone. If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Also do I need to insure them if so what for?

thanks in advance

TJ

Hi, welcome to the GMB.

First one is a British Wedgwood Sheringham candlestick:

Second is a Czech Chribska vase:

Hi and welcome,
Wayne is quite correst of course!

GMB members do not tend to value items specifically. As these are recognisable, you will be able to go to ebay etc.. and have a look what prices they fetch. Your relative had some quite nice glass really. One is a 1960's- 1980's Czech handmade Hospodka Chribska vase. The other is I believe an English Wedgwood Sheringham candleholder. The good news is that the more rings, the more collectors want these and a pair is better than a single! Both are decent pieces of glass, not worth throwing away and will cost a few quid to replace, but not likely worth insuring seperately either,

The 5 ring Wedgwood candle holders always sell well.
The last one I sold  before Christmas, same colour and undamaged  had plenty of interest and sold for £116

yes, nice pieces, and always a good market for both I'd imagine.                Thought for a moment you'd discovered the secret of levitation - assumed that was the wallpaper ;D
