Title: Huge Salviati Birds
Post by: Max on April 05, 2006, 06:36:35 PM
I bought these birds a while ago.  They're about 13" in length, but had some damage to beak and tail, which has now been fixed.

I did write to Salviati about them, but they couldn't give me any details for some reason, or say who designed them.   Paul (Chuggy) recognised them, but I wonder if anyone can tell me anything prior to me selling them?

They have a gold Salviati & Co sticker to the base.

Gorgeous, aren't they?

Half the money from the sale of them will go to a Romanian Hospice appeal.

They were probably designed for Luciano Gaspari.

Laura, I wouldn't have thought of Gaspari for these birds, and it makes them older than I thought too, but I was only guessing at the age anyway.  My knowledge of Gaspari's work is exceedingly limited.  It's hard to find out about some designers I think.  :(
