Post by: heartofsklo on August 08, 2010, 07:40:21 PM
Can anyone shed any light for me. Light blue in colour and base etched "Orrefors F2444/3"?

Designed by Edvin Ohrstrom in 1941. The inscription should read FU 2444/3.  F = Ohrstrom, U = handmade glass;2444 = the production number of the design; 3 = the variation (usually different size).

Nice find.

It actualy only says "orrefors 2444/3" and no more, no other letters of any kind and no "FU". What could it mean by it not being there or was the inscriber simply having a lazy day?

I'd go with the lazy day theory as everything else about the piece matches.

It is a very nice piece of glass.

As ever, it depends on where you sell it. Also, there are Orrefors collectors who have a highly tuned sensed of value concerning rarer pieces, which makes it difficult for a casual Orrefors collector like me to accurately predict price.  A lot of waffling before saying £45 doesn't sound out of line.
