Still more from the basement...

This owl is 12.5cm high and 6.5cm across at the widest. He is probably hollow, although the weight suggests the walls are quite thick. There are mould seams up both sides but they are not very prominent, suggesting some care in the making. The base has a criss-cross pattern of dimples, which is presumably the pattern on a plunger used to push the glass against the mould to finish it off.

Is this a recognisable product of some place and time?

Is it covered in that bright, rainbowy iridesence?

There is no iridescence, although it is very glossy and the bumpy surface reflects and refracts in myriad ways. The glass itself is faintly yellow, but the rest of the colour is coming from the table top and the world outside in the bright Canberra sun.

It is odd that is has been blown and then sealed like that.... but it reminded me of an US company that does an odd finish to bases... I am sure you will find that discussion in US glass... but right now name is eluding me.


Tried to find discussion, went through Garmen and Spence... and Coe. frustrated.
