Title: Clichy swirl
Post by: donaldf on August 05, 2013, 10:23:07 AM
Hi everyone. What is the normal profile shape of a Clichy Swirl pwt?. Is the swirl near the surface as in a St Louis Crown or is it on the plane that the millefiori would be on a concentric for instance? Don

Hi Don.

I think that in an original, unrestored Clichy swirl there will be a reasonable depth of glass over the canes - similar to a medium- large concentric or colour ground. See image.

If the canes are very near the surface it does not sound original. Have the canes been cut into at the side, or do they fold under with clear glass over them?
