Title: I.D please: Ingrid glass, West Germany??? Barbini?
Post by: BAINSY on December 29, 2009, 06:53:11 PM
Hi, i got this for christmas.  Im thinking its Ingrid glass, West Germany?  Also would anyone know the designer?  It measures 6inches high x 5.5inches wide, and has a random bubble pattern.  Any ideas would be much appreciated, many thanks.

Not sure what it is but I'd sooner vote generic Murano than Ingridglas...

Generic means typical of Murano workmanship but not attributable to any one Murano maker (unless we find a labelled/signed version).

The plot thickens.  Are both of you saying that this is definately an Alfredo Barbini piece?  How much did you sell your gold one for? Have typed in his name and struggling to find the same vase as mine??? :)

I dont remember exactly what it went for now being 2 years ago (to many days and to many pieces of glass sold in between im afraid).
Johnphilip is a pretty good source for glass (one of the big brains  ;D) I will drop him an email and draw his attention to this thread and he can give you more details.

Tweaked the topic a little, and moving this to Murano for greater exposure. :)

I'm with Ivo in saying generic Murano (although I prefer the term non attributable Murano).  It's not that it's an inferior piece; it's more that it would be impossible from this photo to say Barbini and even difficult if you were holding it. A few companies made pieces like this. As I said, it's not to denigrate the piece, which I quite like personally. It's just I'd hate to be quoted as saying it's Barbini by someone selling it, which I think is probably a common reaction.

Thanks for the response.  Your absolutely right by saying that, it is difficult to positively identifying this piece.  Its hard to sell without a positive i.d.  Does anyone else have any ideas???   :)
