Riihimaen Stella Polaris vase in lilac by Nanny Still - new internet buy.
-
Lovely Adam.....I haven't seen that in Lilac before..... :hiclp:
-
Thanks Rosie
I have discovered it is actually in neodymium - so it looks lilac in daylight but at dusk under my table lamp it turns blue :)

Lovely in lilac!
Here's the colour range, but in the Grapponia bottle.
-
Wow! I love neodymium. Fancy swapping for a plain one with a stopper?
-
scavo I suggest you search the stopper thing at this site, unfortunately the ones with stoppers are not original but copies.
-
There is a cork and metal ringed stopper variation that is genuine and original to Riihimaen
-
it's okay, I didn't think you would swap anyhow. All the best!
-
Hi
Is this a genuine piece? It was sold as and designlasin drawn image seems to match. If it is not genuine I will need to contact seller and ask for a refund.
Thanks Adam

Adam
yours is totally genuine
(there are some Italian copies floating around with those horrible plastic stoppers that the fake bottle decanters have too)

I started a thread about my 'fake italian' Polaris and I came to the conclusion was that they are licensed rather than fake.
About stoppers: my stopper is glass not plastic. I don't know if this adds anything new to the debate?
-
When I said plastic ferrules I meant the part that goes in the neck.
All Riihimaen stoppers I've seen are cork.
-
OK. I''ve just asked Ivo in another thread if he is talking about the bit that goes on the stopper rather than the actual stopper.
But those are add on bits can be replaced.
Also it can become a headache as in the 2nd hand market false stoppers could be added.

To be licensed they would have to be identical and they're not. That is the point of a license. To be a fake there has to be intent to deceive, and we don't know about that. If your "whatever" is in neodymium or uranium glass, an Italian origin is unlikely. The use of neodymium and uranium in Italy seems to be restricted to handworked rather than mould-blown items.
