I just bought this gorgeous Crystopal Filey trinket set and cigarette box. I am sure I read somewhere they were sold together as a set with an ashtray? Unfortunately the lid of the cigarette box is missing I don't surpose anyone has a spare one they would sell me or an ashtray ???? ;)
-
The original Crystopal trinket set comprised the candlesticks, powder bowl and tray, to which the ashtray and cigarette box was added later, from 1946. Uranium, so it should also glow under UV.
I do have an ashtray, but from memory it does have a small chip. When I find it, then I am open to offers.

Many thanks for your reply David but I just bought one !! Can't believe my luck in finding one. ;D ....Just need a lid now for the cigarette box. :)
I also bought a blue ashtray very similar to Bagley one will post pictures soon and ask for suggestions it says Parker on the base.
-
That will be a Chance one designed by Robert Goodden ;D
-
Wow thanks !! That was quick ;D
-
I edited the book LOL
-
Ahhhh! That explains it...... A pic for you to see anyway !!
-
Worth noting that the design (by Robert Goodden) for these dates back to pre-1939, so the Bagley one appears to draw some inspiration from it. Also see this thread (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,47354.0.html) for more details on this ashtray.

Thanks that made very interesting reading...looks like my £3 at the flea market was well spent. Mine has a tiny chip on one wing but I love the colour it leapt out at me as soon as I entered the Market Hall. Glad to know what the Parker was too. Thanks every one !!! ;D

You'd be very lucky to find one that wasn't chipped

Hi,
Thought you would like these pictures. The first one is the Filey cigarette box, lid and two ashtrays. The second one is a blue crystopal Filey tray, bowl and candlestick. I have also seen the little bridge set of ashtrays in blue crystopal. But I have never managed to find any blue crystopal for sale. Let me know if anybody comes across some! It is truly gorgeous.
Incidentally, the crystopal version was introduced around 1947 but the Filey pattern goes back to 1935 and was originally made in Bagley's crystaltynt glass. These pictures are from our Bagley Glass book.

Thanks for sharing the picture of the Blue Crystopal I have never seen any of that !! It is gorgeous. Though I think I like the green best and I am still very excited that I have found a Trinket set and box that is in perfect condition. Can't wait for my Ashtray to arrive.... I will definately look out for more now ;D

Hurray!..... my Crystopal ashtray has arrived safe and sound and is perfect it even has the Rd number 848394 so I am very happy !!!! ;D Still on the hunt for the cigarette box lid...I am sure there is one lurking in a dark corner of a charity shop somewhere !! ;)

Super Bagley Filey Crystopal pieces here, not sure if this should be moved to Trinket Sets?
