Title: Zanfirico Dish
Post by: adam20 on August 26, 2011, 09:59:55 PM
Zanfirico dish of square shape with white lattice work and coloured glass spirals - rough pontil to base - was told 50s 60s a while back - is that right and what company might have made this?

The glass looks quite thin, which would lead me to recent, as would the colours.

hi Adam,
I have a particular liking to this style/design.
Unfortunately what I've seen in different books that even the so called experts differ on there opinions and attributions.

From my own experiance I would agree with Davids opinion.
The vibrants of the colours I would expect to see in contemporary pieces.
Older examples tend to have thicker glass.
Also the canes themselves tend to more tightly arranged so the width of each cane is less than the example you have.

I am sure that there are older examples out there that would contradict what I have said.
But as a rule of thumb, I look for pieces following my points.

Hope this helps.
