Title: Please help with unsigned art glass piece
Post by: Galle on September 20, 2008, 10:03:36 PM
About 4.5" tall, crackle decoration is an iridescent surface treatment. Ground and polished bottom. Unmarked.

Thanks!

Scratch free (?) polished base suggests not that old. The finish could be added cold too as it is on the wrong side for a marvered vase.

I'm with you on both thoughts, Frank... still a well executed  piece. Just wondering who is out there doing this sort of thing? :)

Wasn't there a mention of a Germany company who specialised in this type of post-production decoration, often on Czech glass, perhaps Pamela will remember.

Thank you - I have contacted the company to see if they recognize it.

The mystery continue - Eische has disavowed this piece... and I can't find a signature...  :ac1:
Title: A.D. Copier for Leerdam?
Post by: Galle on September 22, 2008, 10:55:43 PM
Someone on the eBay board mentioned Leerdam as a possibility - they did do a treatment called "tin craquele" that looks exactly like this treatment. I have found some examples (not in this shape) that appear to have been designed by an A.D. Copier. Any Leerdam experts out there? Any chance that this is a Leerdam piece?

Thanks again...

Warren

Looks hot-applied and stretched to me.  Not much help, I know. :P

That's OK Kristi... this piece is driving me crazy - I thought I was through with mystery pieces. There is not even a whiff of a signature on this piece.

A. D. Copier did a "tincraquele" that occasionally looked somewhat like this. "Serica 14," 1928, is a vase that looks similar to your vase, but it's 21 cm and the craquele extends in stripes down the the body of the vase. And Leerdam is usually signed, or was that later?

This piece is not Leerdam.
It would be some obscure 'unique' experiment which (in such a case) would have been properly signed, since even the ugly ones commanded good prices!

You can see some examples of Leerdam tin craquele on my site
for instance
http://www.hogelandshoeve.nl/18pix/080961b.jpg

and it looks nothing like this!

(You can also exclude Maastricht Kristalunie)

Hi Warren,
the decoration much reminds me of this vase made by Cristallerie Oberursel in Hesse / Germany.
According to this site these vases should date to ca. 1982-1990.

The one I´ve posted has a different base (large ground and polished pontil mark) and is cased
though, while yours appears to be solid green. Or is that just the pictures?
Regards,
Dirk

A suggestion, probably like telling your grandmother how to suck eggs :24: (English expression)
Have you ruled out Poshinger?

It looks like Dirk has cracked the case (no pun intended)  ;D

Thanks also for the link to that website  - it has some interesting history, including a historical link to the Rachmann Bros. factory (which had a tragic end in WWII).

Thank you all  - and Dirk, you're the man. :)

English isn´t my first language, so I usually don´t get the finer nuances anyway...   ;D
