Title: paperweight for ID please
Post by: bfg on November 04, 2012, 01:48:00 PM
still on my steep learning curve re: paperweights.

I picked it up because the canes are sitting on a bed of multicoloured mush with added aventurine.

Is this mush called scramble? Is there anything about the style of p/w that would lead one to a country of origin and or a period of manufacture?

size: 2.5 inches high, 3 inches wide

Thanks for taking the time to look

Mel

This is a Murano weight looks to me to be Fratelli Toso, age I'm afraid I am not sure of, see Alan (Tropdevins) excellent site here for more references http://www.pwts.co.uk/pages/Murano1.htm (http://www.pwts.co.uk/pages/Murano1.htm)

The glass "mush" is just a mix of glass frits, scramble weights being a mixture of whole and part canes arraoged in a weight.
