Title: Opalescent bonbon dish uranium foot
Post by: Simba on September 19, 2012, 05:27:48 PM
My lovely husband bought this lovely dish for me today as an extra present for my birthday (Tomorrow). I know nothing about blown glass so can anyone tell who might have made this and am I correct in calling it opalescent ? :) The foot glows lovely green under UV it very lovely. There is a sharp pontil on the base

The white part is certainly opalescent. The clear to white part will contain whatever it is that turns cloudy white when reheated (arsenic, bone ash?) and the pink will be a very thin ruby (i.e., cranberry ) layer on the inside. My guess would be English rather than Bohemian but I doubt you'll find a maker. Nice one.
