Title: Is this vase by Zelezny Brod? ID = Skrdlovice, Beranek 5989
Post by: charliepedro on December 15, 2010, 12:53:33 AM
Hi guys,

Can anyone help me ID this vase by any chance? I'm sure it's Sklo Union but uncertain which glassworks it was made at. I'm thinking perhaps Zelezny Brod but may be very wrong. It weighs 1395 grams - stands 11.2'' tall, the base including lobed protrusions measures 4 x 2.7'' and the rim measures 6 x 2.7''.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thanks, Charlene

Hi there. Just a little nudge to say Sklo Union was the exportconglomerate for pressed glass, so your freeform vase could not possibly be SU.  I also don't think it is by ZBS - but I'd look at Borocrystal or Chrbska first.  You can also sit back and relax, as someone with more detailed knowledge on these matters is bound to come by and ID it.  :X:

Hi Ivo,

Thanks very much for the correction - very helpful info which I had no grasp of! Hopefully someone can give a solid ID on this at some stage then, looking forward to some more replies!

Cheers

Hi guys,

Just a bump to prompt any suggestions you may have as this one seems to have slipped through the net so far.

Cheers, Charlene

????

Not sure where you are located ---- (but just a guess here)   Chalet Glass ???  Colors and design kinda remind me of it --- but I may be so far in the left field, I am off the Planet...  :spls:

Hi all,

Thanks for your suggestion Rose - this is just one last bump to hopefully prompt some suggestions as I am still very much in the dark and will be left as such without your help.

Happy New Year!

Charlene :o)

Skrdlovice might be a possibility...  :)

Interesting.... here's something similar that finished on ebay a while ago, hard to be sure from the various photos: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270791726385

It's the same shape as the 5989 Beranek vase here: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php?topic=40194.0  :)

Anik, you are doing a great job here resolving long forgotten glass queries! :hiclp:

Charlene's vase has a very nice (and unusual) colourway, BTW...
Mine and the one you linked to are more typical Skrdlovice colour combos.

Thanks so much to you guys for your wealth of knowledge and time taken to help me and others! I'm really pleased to hear my vase is a beranek design and possibly in an unusual colour to boot!

THANK YOU!!!!!
