I bought one of those 70's oversize brandy glasses today, purely because I did not recognise the label. It is a white interior cased in bright orange. It has a black and silver label with monogram JC and Made In Sweden. Will post pic later when batteries charged if no-one knows. OK here are the pics.

Wow! Love that orange! :D This is pure speculation, but I wondered if it's an importers sticker...Jones & Co? I'll probably be corrected in a moment.

I can't find the threads but I have seen similar stickers on vases like this. http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/albums/userpics/10011/Picture%20003.jpg
Also, somebody posted an item in the Murano section with a similar sticker though it may have been moved now.
I also remember that Bubble's has one with a similar label.

Pat & Max,
I was told it was a Jones & Co. label by Graham Cooley, I have absolutely no reason to doubt this, however someone did question why the "C" should be so prominent if it only stood for Co. So I supose that made me chicken out of stating this , until I had looked into it further!
So Max it was nice that you came up with the same :D
-
Possibly because it's pretty hard to get arty farty with just a J :D
-
Exactly what I said to the person that doubted it!
-
Thanks Bubbles, Pat and Christine. If we could get this thread authenticated, then it would be useful to have this sticker archived I think.
What are the chances of getting Graham Cooley to post here?
-
Here's that murano post I was talking about, slightly different monogram though.

Hi Pat, I'd love to see your vase as I bought one today that sounds very similar, but with no label, and it would really help if they turned out to be the same! Your pic won't come up on my PC when I click the link. What were the measurements of yours? Many thanks, Cat
-
I had removed it but now it is back so you can look.
-
Thank you Pat. They are similar but not the same. Mine is a fraction under 12" tall and has a coloured rather than clear stem. Also no knop. I have posted a pic in case anyone can help me identify it.
Don't they look amazing on a window sill!

Cat, your image link is to the thumbnail which is a bit too small to see much really (especially when, like me, you're getting older and your eyes - and everything else! - is failing. ;) ).
If you look below the main image you'll see a section called File Information and there's a line in there for URL. Use that as the link to your image and we'll be able to see it properly. (It displays at the Gallery's normal size but if you then click the image again it opens the full-size version in a new pop-up window.)
Your brandy glass is here: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-3044 8) That orange is amazing isn't it?!

Hello Anne,
Sorry I slipped up on that one................or have I been doing them ALL wrong? I thought I had figured it out and just made a mistake on this one............now I'm worried!
Should have been :

It's a shame it's not a very fashionable colour anymore...............still at least some of us appreciate them!

You're linking directly to the middle size image which means we cannot use the larger popup option or browse your album from the link. If you use that URL below the main image it will work better for us every time. :)
BTW my mother has two of the "Chinese Murano" vases in the same vibrant orange and they absolutely glow - even on a dull day they look cheery.
