Title: Help with authenticating Pino Signoretto signature
Post by: margaretinoz on August 17, 2005, 02:06:20 AM
Hi everyone  :D

I have a large 13" bird/cockatoo which has a signature on the bottom that looks like Pino Signoretto.  I have tried browsing the net for an email address that I can send pics to, but cannot find anything

Can anyone point me in the right direction of where to go to get this authenticated :?:

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Hi,

Posting an image here might help you.

In the meantime.....

Pino Signoretto is unlikely to be mistakeable, and not yet the target of fakers. Therefore, you can be reasonably confident you have a genuine piece.

His distinguished cv can be found here:
http://www.venicewebgallery.com/glass-art/PinoMauro/cvPino.htm

and at least 130 images of the man at work, and his art are currently posted on the net.

Regards,

Le Casson

I have sent an email to the gallery with pictures attached and hopefully they will get back to me.  "fingers crossed"

I have added a link below of three pics

The base of the bird (http://www.members.optushome.com.au/stuartmilne/DSCF0044.JPG)
The Signature (http://www.members.optushome.com.au/stuartmilne/DSCF0043.JPG)

thought I would follow up on my post to let you know that I received an email back from The Venice Web Gallery.

Quote:
Hi, the signature looks authentic, if you could make a picture of the whole figure maybe we can get authenticated.

Ciao da Alvise.

I have since sent off more photographs of the whole figure and I am awaiting a reply.

Will drop a post here when I receive more info.

Thanks guys for all the help!

Regards,
Margaret.

Hi Javier

As I have mentioned before in one of the threads, I pick up pieces I like the look of from the market and car boot sales.  My knowledge of glass is zilch   I buy what I like - whether it be the colour that attracts me or the shape.

This bird was only $32Aud which is approx $23US.  What a lucky find :D

It is in excellent condition apart from a teeny weeny sliver of glass on the branch which is missing and I can never find it when I look for it...I have to use my hands to feel it.

I am a happy chappy :D  :D

Here are a couple of pictures of the bird below (from both sides)
