Back on topic ;) - just wondered whether, given the limited colour range, Burlington Bertie might be screen-printed rather than transfer? If so, the date of the mark might make him quite interesting - Frank, was it you who suggested that screen-printing was introduced in the 30s?

Any ideas who this firm may be please? Four tiny tots with transfer-printed huntsman on a horse + hounds. Moulded mark on the base which has BVB in an oval, with FRANCE beneath the oval. the V is much larger than the BB - the tots are these:

Ohhhh just a thought... would they be 1950's or earlier? These are the ones for the 1950's play set so earlier isn't a problem.. just as long as they aren't later!!!

Really hard to date these - I have seen this style of tot before, and I think with later (1950s) designs. Of course, if it were a successful design it could have been produced for many years.
Re. play - would anyone be that critical, even if they knew?

It should not be assumed that the decoration was done by the maker of the glasses. In fact they almost certainly were not. Huntsmen glasses at least are probably UK decorated.

Frank, is hunting in the way shown a peculiarly English past time? I'm assuming it must be from your reply, but it's something I've never considered before.

No, and hunts attire is not wildly different elsewhere. But gates do differ and that one is English. Of course, lots of these transfers were just copies from illustrated books, might even have been in copyright at the time :o

Recently I was exploring gates and studying all I could see, looking back at those glasses the thought just struck me... English gate! Rider and horse much less so.
