Title: Help with identification
Post by: MZMoseley on September 29, 2012, 09:15:17 PM
This piece of glass has been left in my care and I am trying to identify its maker. It is a vase,  approximately 11.25 inches (28.5cm) tall, 4.5 inches (10.5cm) wide. The inside color is amber and the outside is clear. It has markings on the bottom that are difficult to read but appear to be the letters M  C  O  D.  But the M could be a W and the O and D could be Os or Ds. The letters form the perimeter of a circle with two lines, forming an axis.
Thanks for any help!  Really appreciate it.

Hello and welcome to the board.
I'm afraid I can't help with your vase id but it is a very attractive piece.  Hopefully someone will be along soon who may be able to help more now I've bumped your topic up the page again :)

Welcome.  :)
I was really puzzled by this and I think it's rather nice.
What I really can't make out, is if there is Batutto cutting inside it?
Or is it a reflection of the grid above in your picture?

I love the colours. Given the style of the mark, could a compass be relevant to the maker or their name?

Could we please see an image of the rim and how it is finished off? :)
