Any ideas what these might be would be appreciated. The nearest thing I've seen to these two is Northwood.

The tall one I believe to be quite old - with considerable wear to the base. I'm still trying to clean out the gunge. (The dark area is just a reflection) Its 12" high. The clear glass has a yellow tinge to it. There appears to be narrow vertical ribbing/fluting on the inside, but this is criss-crossed by horizontal external ridges at the top. An old chap in the shop insisted that it was "Festival" glass. I wasn't going to argue with him - he towered over me and held a walking stick!
The small one has six vertical panels and seems to have an almost silvery sheen at the top around the edges.
Close up of tops.

The final one is iridescent and I'm not sure if this is actually classed as Carnival glass. I just bought it out of interest, not because I particularly liked it  . It reminds me of the iridescence seen in soap bubbles, and it picks up surrounding colours. I would imagine this is quite modern (?)

Many thanks

Festival Glass - I like it! I recently composed a listing of all the names I could discover that Carnival has been known by, over the last (almost) 100 years. I got to a grand total of 95. "Festival" was not in the listing, so that makes 96.
Anne, your two Carnival vases are:-
on the left, the taller one, is Imperial's "Ripple" vase
on the right, the short one, is Dugan/Diamond's "Thin Rib"
Both are found in the UK and both are considered to be "Classic Carnival" - and interestingly the treatment whereby the top of the vase has a lot of iridescence and the lower part has none, is also something that seems to be seen in the UK more than elsewhere. I think it might actually have been intended to imitate some art glass that was iridised with an upper band of lustre.

Many thanks as always Glen :P
I think I prefer pieces to be all iridised with lustre. Seems half finished otherwise IMHO

I agree Anne, though I always find such variations kind-of interesting in a "social comment" sort of way. If you know what I mean
Still love that FESTIVAL glass sobriquet :D
