I recently bought this paperweight which is signed, but can't trace it on any listing of Jacobino's work - only ducks, rabbits and vases. Does anyone know when it was made, and any other info, please.
many thanks

Hi hazelmay, did you mean to post a picture of the dolphin and the signature for us to see?
Rosie. :sun:

Hi Rosieposie yes I did! Not very technical I'm afraid and the photos I have are too big to upload. Will have to re-try. I'm pretty sure the signature is genuine, its information on the model I'm curious about. please be patient!!! :ac1:

here are a couple of photos - they don't do the piece justice as it is very finely blown. I welcome any help with this, please.

Hi hazlemay, this link takes you to a glass piece with the Kumela Jacobino signature on......I hope this might help to identify ours as authentic.

BTW, the lips look the same as your dolphin as well!!

hazelmay, I think you did not mention any measurements? if your "dolphin's" height is around 12-14cm it very much seems to be the one known. It is actually known as a "fish" so if you google pictures from Finland you will find pics. (fish = "kala" in Finnish)

Thanks Rosie!
Yes the lips are similar - what is really helpful is the note about controlled bubbles - the dolphin has these too - the whole piece is exceptional I just wish I could find out more about it - I have found info on Jacobino but not the dolphin! well I guess this is a quest and hopefully someone else will have more info - time will tell!!! Thanks again
Hazel

Thanks Rosie, and px yes the signature is right (thank goodness!), and it is 13cm tall. I'll try the finnish websites.
many thanks

They did have one on Worthpoint, but sadly the picture is no longer there, but the details match exactly, so it is worth a look. I put in Kumela Fish Finland, and it came up, but without a photo.

googling is art. To choose the correct words, and try different combinations that is. Anyway, I get 4 separate pics of the very fish (from 3 different sites) I could give you the links, but really.... I thought I already gave you the words!! C'mon? :hiclp:
(5 point hints; Fish is not fish in Finnish. Finland is not Finland in Finnish. And the pictures are placed in the internet by Finnish people as Kumela was in Finland... ;) )
:rah:
-
Oh px, be fair, you have the advantage, you ARE Finnish!! Try doing it in Welsh or Gaelic, or even Swahili!! :thud:
Rosie. :sun:

Well, rosie dear.. google translator tells me "fish" is "samaki" in swahili...!!!! ;) ;D And if you would tell me what "fish" is in welsh or gaelic I would know! (another 5 point hint given) :rah:
-
I found it!!
Am I allowed to say????
Mzuri sana px!!*
Sorry hazelmay....we won't :hj: your thread!
Rosie. :sun:
